On August 21 2016, Rio Olympics ended with a spectacular closing ceremony🇧🇷🎆. Do you know where the next summer Olympic Games will be held?… Yes, it is in Tokyo🗼🎌✨✨!!!!! It will be from July 24 to August 9 2020.
Tokyo defeated Madrid and Instanbul in the race to host the 2020 Games. The news that Tokyo won this race in 2013 made all Japanese people extremely excited🙌, maybe because it was just after we experienced a huge tragedy – the Great East Japan Earthquake in 2011. I also watched TV at the moment of our winning, though it was midnight in Japan.📺🌟
Actually it is our second time to host the summer Olympic Games.. the first time was 1964, over 50 years ago. Some venues used in 1964 will be used once again, called “Heritage zone”🎽, while we are constructing new venues in the “Tokyo Bay Zone”🏊🏻. For the details, check Venue map.🗺
Emblems of Tokyo 2020 Games are composed of three different rectangular shapes, which represent DIVERSITY; different countries, cultures and ways of thinking👨👩👦👦. The Olympic and Paralympic Games must be the places where diversity becomes unity, and it seeks to promote diversity as a platform to connect the world💓. If you’re interested in more details, check the Emblems concept video.🎥
At the closing ceremony in Rio, the Olympic flag was handed over to Yuriko Koike, the Tokyo’s first female governor🙋. I, as one of Japanese, am very honored to welcome Olympics in Tokyo. 😊🎌✨
On August 3 2016, 5 sports incl. Baseball⚾️, a total of 18 events, were officially approved as additional sports at the Tokyo 2020 Games. Don’t take your eyes off these events! 👀🌟
